A man was shot in the leg around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on the 900 block of Olivia Lane.
Corea Shaleto Pearsall, 38, suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg, but officers do not know what type of gun was used in the shooting. Pearsall's wound was not fatal.
Goldsboro police officers responded to multiple calls of shots being fired on Olivia Lane that resulted in someone being injured, but could not locate a victim of the gunshots.
Officers learned that Pearsall was taken to the hospital of his own accord.
"The hospital called us and told us that someone had come in with a gunshot wound to the leg," said Capt. Trey Ball, who was at the scene Tuesday night.
Officers canvassed the area on foot to speak with witnesses to the shots fired, covering the area of Olivia Lane, Carver Drive, Hugh Street and the surrounding streets.
Ball said shell casings were recovered at the scene but could not say what type of gun the shell casings came from.
On Sunday, 19-year-old Michael Jerome Wimbush Jr. was murdered on the 900 block of Carver Drive just before 2:15 p.m.
The location of Tuesday night's shooting is roughly three blocks away from where Sunday's slaying occurred.
Ball said the police department is investigating Tuesday night's shooting as being connected to Sunday's shooting death.
Jacques Torraine Atkinson, 18, of 808 S. Best St., turned himself in just after 12 a.m. Monday for the killing of Wimbush.
Maj. Anthony Carmon of the Goldsboro Police Department said there are no results yet from Wimbush's autopsy.
