Four members of Goldsboro's Southern Dames of America chapter performed an original skit in Birmingham, Ala. The occasion was the National Conference of the Southern Dames of America on June 4.
The skit was written by Goldsboro's Marian Westbrook. Participating actors were Marian Westbrook, Emmy Mitchell, Betty Duncan and Emily Weil.
Approximately 75 women from chapters in 16 states attended the annual event at the Hilton Garden Inn in the Liberty Point section of Birmingham. All present enjoyed the presentation.
The skit titled "One-Eyed Jacks & Jills" was created because the Southern Dames' primary purpose is to promote eye health and support eye research.
The skit was originally presented in February at the North Carolina State Assembly of Southern Dames held in Goldsboro at the Terrace Room.
Rave reviews caused the national event's organizers to issue an invitation for the group to come to Birmingham in order to provide the primary entertainment for the national conference.
