Purple Heart Banquet Aug. 5

The fifth annual Goldsboro/Wayne Purple Heart Foundation Banquet and Ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 5, at The First Church at 1100 The First Church Road.
The Wayne County Veterans and Patriots Coalition is serving as grand sponsor.
The North Carolina Purple Heart Foundation and Goldsboro Chairman Bill Graham are asking all Purple Heart recipients in the county who did not attend last year's banquet to contact him so that they can be recognized this year.
Next of kin of deceased recipients are asked to contact Graham as well. Those considered next of kin are husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters and children.
The foundation has a roster of those who have attended the event in previous years. They and their families are being contacted about the Aug. 5 program.
