Shooting victim dies in hospital

The victim of a shooting on Sunday in front of Donel's Convenience Store at 518 E. Elm St. died Tuesday morning after being taken off life support at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
Versean Jenkins, 21, of 425 Hollowell St., was shot multiple times while standing in front of the convenience store at 12:15 a.m. Sunday. The case is being investigated as a homicide by the Goldsboro Police Department.
Jenkins was rushed to Wayne Memorial Hospital after being shot Sunday morning and was then transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, where he then died.
"He died yesterday when they took him off of life support yesterday morning," said Sgt. Jeremy Sutton with the Criminal Investigations division of the Goldsboro Police Department.
There are no known suspects in the murder and no charges have been filed.
Sutton said he could not release the type of weapon used in the shooting since the case in under active investigation.
"We are still working the case and looking for any witnesses to come forward and talk to us about what they may have seen," Sutton said.
