Two Goldsboro men were arrested early this morning during separate traffic stops for resisting officers and possessing drugs and firearms.

The two separate incidents involving two different men happened only an hour apart.

Tacarous Monquez Peterson, 23, of 1104 Sunburst Drive Room 222, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, felony maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of selling narcotics, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of an open container of alcohol in passenger area of vehicle and was also cited for a headlight violation.

Peterson was arrested just before 1:30 a.m. after Goldsboro police officers noticed his vehicle pulling behind 909 N. Spence Ave. to park and deemed the activity suspicious.

The officers stopped Peterson's vehicle and searched the vehicle, which led to the discovery of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Peterson was placed under a $10,000 secured bond.

Tyshawn Dion Gardner, 19, of 611 Slaughter St., was charged with felony possession of a stolen firearm, aggravated possession of a schedule VI substance and assault on a law enforcement officer.

Gardner was arrested after officers stopped the vehicle he was a passenger in at 2:30 a.m. at 1314 Robin St. Officers reported that they saw marijuana tucked beside Gardner's left leg, and told Gardner and the driver of the vehicle to put their hands on the dash.

Officer Jason Booker began to open the door after the men inside the vehicle were told to put their hands on the dash.

Gardner allegedly opened his door and hit officer Jeffrey Johnson with it.

Johnson then pushed the door closed and ordered Gardner to stay in the car. After the order from Johnson, Gardner allegedly opened his door again and hit Johnson with the car door two more times and forced his way out of the vehicle.

According to the report, Gardner then allegedly shoved Johnson out of his way several times and fled on foot. Johnson chased Gardner and arrested him.

Gardner was given a $15,000 secured bond.

Both Peterson and Gardner will have their first appearance in Wayne County court today.
