Members of the Real Cloth Diaper Circle of Wayne County hold up their children during the diaper changing event Saturday.

On Saturday, at exactly 11 a.m., across the world, thousands of mothers and fathers changed a cloth diaper on their baby in order to break a world record.

The women of the Real Cloth Diaper Circle of Wayne County were in on the action. At Daniels Memorial United Methodist Church, 21 people took part in the event.

"We weren't able to break our personal record of 49, but our changes go toward the world-wide record," co-leader Julie Ham said. Although the participants did not come away with a record, everyone left with raffle prizes and gifts.

Several companies such as BioKleen, Motherlove, Coqui Baby, Tidy Tots, Nosefrida, Lil Helper Cloth Diapers, and many more donated cloth diaper related items for giveaway prizes.

The church provided re-usable grocery bags to help carry away the prizes.

"The event was a huge success because we were able to change 21 babies into cloth diapers, which means 21 less disposable diapers will reach a landfill. Every diaper counts!" said co-leader Amber Whitted.

For anyone who missed out, this is an annual spring event. The Cloth Diaper Circle meets at 10 a.m. every second Saturday of the month at Daniels Memorial UMC, in the nursery room of the education building.

All are welcome. For more information, find the group on Facebook or the church's website, danielsmemorial .com.
