Suspect charged in bank robbery

A Snow Hill man was arrested Wednesday by the Goldsboro Police Department in connection to a robbery at First South Bank at 2801 Cashwell Drive that happened on April 12.
Malik Thomas, 20, of 998 N.C. 903 North, Snow Hill, was arrested and charged with felony attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and placed under a $125,000 bond and confined in the Wayne County Jail.
Thomas' first appearance in Wayne County court is today.
Thomas is one of two suspects accused of attempting to rob the First South Bank.
Maj. Anthony Carmon with the Goldsboro Police Department did not go into detail about what steps are being taken to locate the second suspect.
According to initial reports about the attempted robbery, one of the suspects brandished a handgun after entering the First South Bank while another suspect went behind the bank counter, but neither suspect was able to take any money.
The two suspects fled from the bank on foot.
