Firefighters from Rosewood, Oakland and Little River Fire Departments battle a fire that consumed what was once an insulation warehouse on Old Smithfield Road near Friendly Drive early this morning.

A storage barn located at 1558 Old Smithfield Road caught fire and burned down early this morning, and the incident is currently under investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.

"We're examining the scene and figuring out what it is that caused it," said Maj. Tom Effler with the Sheriff's Office.

It is currently not known whether foul play or other means caused the structure to catch fire, authorities said.

The Rosewood, Oakland and Little River Fire Departments responded to the scene just after 2 a.m. today after receiving a 911 call from a person driving by.

There was no power running to the storage barn at the time the building caught fire. There were several different items in the building at the time of the fire, consisting of insulation, fireplace inserts, marble and mantles. The building was estimated as being worth $10,000.
