Teams make two drug arrests

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office ACE team and the Goldsboro/Wayne REACT team both recorded drug arrests over the weekend.
The arrests were made in the Alpha Arms apartment complex and in the northern end of the county, respectively. In both instances, marijuana and cocaine were seized.
According to separate press releases, Levonte Semaj Hardnett, 22, 205 C Alpha Court, and Davin McCarty, 26, 519 Morgan Trace Drive, each face charges of cocaine and marijuana possession.
Maj. Tom Effler said the drug cases were similar, but are not related.
"They had probable cause which led to consent to search," he said.
Hardnett's arrest came Saturday, while REACT team members were conducting a foot patrol in the Alpha Arms community.
According to the press release, officers smelled marijuana burning in a parked car. When the officers approached the car, Hardnett handed the marijuana over and consented to a vehicle search, the release said. Officers found cocaine in the vehicle.
In addition to the possession charges, Hardnett is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, His bond was set at $1,500 secured.
McCarty's arrest unfolded much the same way Sunday. According to the press release, officers on patrol in the northern end of Wayne County stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and the vehicle searched.
Officers found cocaine and marijuana and arrested McCarty without incident. His bond was set at $5,000 unsecured.
