A Goldsboro teen wanted in connection with two Raleigh murders is in custody after a fugitive task force and the Goldsboro/Wayne REACT team located and arrested him in the city Thursday.
Denzel Rashad Dancy, 18, of 804 Isler St., is also charged locally with robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Local law enforcement officials were able to provide little information regarding the Raleigh investigation, and officials there did not return calls for comment by press time.
According to a press release issued Friday, Dancy was taken back to Raleigh to appear before a Wake County magistrate on the two murder charges.
REACT team officers along with members of the Raleigh Fugitive Task Force tracked Dancy to the Wayne County area late last week.
Maj. Tom Effler of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office said Dancy was first thought to be in the county hiding out in the southern part of the county, but was later discovered in the city limits.
"They checked a place in Dudley, couldn't find him. They checked a place in Goldsboro, located him there," Effler said.
Dancy was arrested without incident at 419 Denmark St. and served with three warrants - the two murder warrants from Raleigh and the local warrants on the robbery charge.
Sergeant Jeremy Sutton of the Goldsboro Police Department said via email the charges against Dancy filed with his office stem from a February incident involving an acquaintance and a ride through town that ended in a felony.
On Feb. 16 an unnamed victim reported giving Dancy a ride.
"When they arrived to their destination the suspect, Mr. Dancy, pulled a gun on the victim and robbed him," Sutton said.
A subsequent investigation identified Dancy and warrants were secured.
Dancy will answer to the murder charges before being prosecuted for the lesser crime in Wayne County.
