Wayne County sheriff's deputies promoted

Wayne County Sheriff Larry Pierce announced that he recently promoted five of his deputies to fill vacant positions within the Sheriff's Office.

Deputy Joseph Borgquist was promoted from the rank of patrol deputy II to detective/drugs. Detective Borgquist has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since April 2012.

Corp. Chuck Shaeffer was promoted from a corporal assigned to the Drug Division to detective sergeant/drugs. Sgt. Shaeffer has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since November 2003.

Corp. Garrison Nance has been promoted from patrol corporal to patrol sergeant. Sgt. Nance has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since January 2005.

Corp. Michael Dawson has been promoted from corporal assigned to the drug enforcement division to first sergeant. He will still be assigned to the Drug Enforcement Division. Dawson has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since June 2002.

Patrol Sgt. Michel Smiley has been promoted to patrol lieutenant. Smiley has been employed with the Sheriff's Office since May 2001.

"I am very proud of all of these deputies and appreciate the dedication they have shown to our agency," Pierce said. "This dedication has proven that all of these promotions are well deserved.
