Literary festival at UMO

MOUNT OLIVE -- The University of Mount Olive English Department and Sigma Tau Delta will hold the 15th annual Literary Festival and Poetry Slam on Wednesday and Thursday, March 30 and 31.
Jason Mott will be the featured author.
Mott will present at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, in the Southern Bank Auditorium. The Poetry Slam will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 31, in the Southern Bank Auditorium.
Students wishing to enter their original works and participate in the slam must register in advance. The prize for the winner will be $100 cash. All events are free and open to the public.
Mott lives in southeastern North Carolina and has a BFA in fiction, as well as an MFA in poetry, both from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. His poetry and fiction have appeared in various literary journals.
He was nominated for a 2009 Pushcart Prize award, an NAACP Image Award, and Entertainment Weekly listed him as one of their 10 "New Hollywood: Next Wave" people to watch.
Mott is the author of two poetry collections "We Call This Thing Between Us Love and ...hide behind me..."
