The city of Goldsboro invites the community to a rededication ceremony celebration on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in honor of the completion of the rehabilitation of the F-86 Saber jet work conducted by the men and women at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The dedication ceremony will be memorialized with a four-ship Seymour Johnson Air Force Base flyover at 5:45 p.m. that will fly over Center Street beginning from the southern end and come up toward the F-86. This event is taking place in conjunction with the North Carolina Main Street Conference.
The N.C. Main Street Conference is the state's largest downtown revitalization event, offering learning sessions, tours, time for downtown exploration and opportunities for networking with downtown professionals, elected officials, volunteers and consultants.
"Soaring with Main Street," the theme for this year's conference, is an exploration of North Carolina's economic drivers and the innovative, creative downtown applications that are occurring across the state with the Main Street program.
The conference will take place in downtown Wednesday through Friday and is expected to attract an estimated 600 people from across the state. This is the first time Goldsboro has served as a conference host community.
Speakers will include Col. Mark Slocum, commander of the 4th Fighter Wing, Mayor Chuck Allen and City Manager Scott Stevens. The flyover will take place at 5:45 p.m. and will be visible from any point along Center Street.
