Authorities dressed in hazmat suits enter a meth lab Friday on Collier Street.
The Wayne County Interagency Drug Task Force and the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation responded Friday to a tip regarding a possible meth lab operating out of a Goldsboro residence.
Upon further investigation, officers discovered evidence supporting the claim that methamphetamine were being manufactured for sale.
The lab was discovered in a shed behind the residence located at 1219 Collier St. at approximately 7:50 a.m.
"We received information this morning that an individual who recently moved in here was manufacturing meth," Wayne County Sheriff's Office Drug Squad deputy Chuck Schaeffer said.
Brandon Chaz Trusclair, 26, is charged with a single count each of trafficking in methamphetamine by manufacture and trafficking methamphetamine by possession, as well as five counts of possession and distribution of a meth precursor.
"He is being held without bond," Schaeffer said.
The sheriff's office and SBI took control of the scene and dismantled the lab, but the arrest belonged to the Goldsboro Police Department.
"The (sheriff's) drug squad and the Goldsboro drug unit -- both agencies -- came out, gained a consent to search, and searched the residence. During the search, we located items consistent with the manufacture of meth," Schaeffer said.
He said the SBI would take inventory of the evidence seized, then transport the remaining materials to its waste containment site.
