FREMONT -- Applications are being accepted for food and homemade arts/crafts vendors for the 30th annual Daffodil Festival to be held Saturday, April 2.
Contact Brenda Paul at 919-242-6012 for vendor information.
The festival is normally held on the last weekend in March, but was moved to April 2 because of the Easter weekend.
It will begin at 10 a.m. and end at 5 p.m.
Downtown streets will be lined with vendors selling arts and crafts or foods while local churches, civic groups and fire departments hold fundraisers.
"One thing that makes it unique is that the arts and crafts are so individualized," said Keith Stewart, one of the organizers. "This is not retail. This is people doing their art, oftentimes right in front of you, or making their crafts right there in front of you
"So it is very personal and it's small which means it tends to be very family friendly. We have a lot of families that come together and have for years. I'd say the family friendly atmosphere makes it is very unique."
There will be plenty of free entertainment as well including a concert by the Embers from noon to 2 p.m. on the stage at the east end of Main Street.
A second stage will be set up on the other end of Main Street for more entertainment that is still being scheduled.
The festival is sponsored by the town's businesses.
"There is a Daffodil Committee, but we solicit support from businesses in and around Fremont that give the donations to pay for this stuff," Stewart said. "We will have kids rides, stuff for the kids to do. In the past there have been things like a climbing wall, merry-go-round, a train ride that kind of goes around the town."
Everything is free except for the food, arts and crafts purchases and kids rides.
