The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is asking for the community's assistance in locating a murder suspect known on the streets as "Bham," or "B-Ham."
According to a sheriff's office press release, Billy Reynaldo Hamm Sr., 44, is known to frequent the areas of Carolina and East Holly streets.
Hamm is wanted in connection with the Jan. 9 shooting that took place inside a Dudley home during a failed robbery attempt. Four other suspects have already been charged.
According to investigators, a plot to rob the residents of 159 Sleepy Creek Road came unraveled during the execution of the crime. Carlos Cesar Vasquez Luna, 47, and Alfredo Garcias, 25, were both shot in the incident. Luna died at the scene and Garcias suffered life threatening injuries from which he is still recovering.
Days after the shooting, Janele Lee Howard, 35, was charged with first-degree murder and held without bond. Montrell Demontrio Allen, 41, and Darius Lamar Chestnut, 35, turned themselves in to investigators in the weeks that followed. Both men were charged with first-degree burglary and two counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and held under secured bonds of $300,000.
A fourth suspect, Jerry Audrey Parks, 41, is also charged.
Maj. Tom Effler said there is no way to know for certain if Hamm will be armed, but he should be considered dangerous.
"Well, he is charged with murder," Effler said.
Anyone with information regarding Hamm's whereabouts is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text tips to 919-222-4230. Callers can remain anonymous and tips leading to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
"Do not confront him, I would not advise a citizen to try to tackle him or anything. But if you see him, call," Effler said. "Dial 911."
