The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating how and when someone removed an ATM containing $5,000 from a closed business on South John Street.

"We're going to have to do some followup to see if there were any work crews in there," Maj. Anthony Carmon said.
The business, a convenience store, is not currently open for business.
"It has been closed for a good little while," Carmon said.
According to the report, Scottie Goodwin, an employee of Elite Merchant Services which is based out of Selma, returned to the business at 11:10 a.m. Thursday and found the ATM missing. It was last known secure at 12 p.m. Dec. 19.
The machine is valued at $1,000.
