The manhunt for two breaking and entering suspects in the area of Aycock Dairy Farm Road stretched into its second day, Wednesday, still with no results.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has released the identities of two men being sought.

Arrest warrants have been secured for Christopher Dail Alphin, 37, 227 Charlie Braswell Road, and an order for arrest already exists for Christopher Dail Alphin, 39, 114 Laura Lane.

Alphin is wanted on felony charges of breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering.

One of the men is said to have been wearing blue jeans and a blue shirt. The other was wearing a gray coat and blue jeans, and he had a hat and a beard, Maj. Tom Effler said.

"That one is going to be Thompson," he said.

According to a sheriff's office press release, a resident returned home to 316 Aycock Dairy Farm Road, Tuesday and found her home had been broken into. Sheriff's deputies responded, but the suspects -- driving a white Ford pick up -- managed to drive into a field and then run into the woods. A search by a K-9 unit led deputies to an area deep within the woods where the terrain turned to swamp and the scent was lost. The sheriff's office temporarily called off the search.

Later in the day, on a neighboring farm, a resident chased one of the suspects from a barn on his property in the 700 block of Aycock Dairy Farm Road.

"At this time, we have no reason to believe they are dangerous," Effler said. "And we don't believe they are armed."

The suspect ran into the wood line on the farmer's property, a roughly 30-acre patch of dense woods and thick briars. The manhunt resumed and included a 12-man SWAT team, several K-9 units and the sheriff's office helicopter, The Raven, flown by the Airwatch team.

The search continued well into the night, but again came up empty.

At about 9 a.m., Wednesday, deputies received another call. A suspicious person had been spotted in the area of N.C. Highway 222, near Aycock Dairy Farm Road. Again the search resumed, but neither suspect has been located.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of either suspect is asked to contact the Wayne County Sheriff's Office at 919-731-1481. Detective Scott Mohiser is the lead investigator.

Callers can also contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text tips to 919-222-4230.
