Goldsboro police apprehend suspect in string of robberies

Marcus Tyrone Coleman, 38, of 321 Hopesway Drive in Dudley, who has allegedly committed 12 armed robberies within the past two months in the Goldsboro city limits, has been charged with the crimes and placed under a $1.25 million bond by the Goldsboro Police Department.

GPD responded to multiple calls throughout the months of October and November of this year that reported multiple armed robberies at many businesses throughout Goldsboro.

As a result of a traffic stop by GPD's B shift officers and further investigation by the GPD Investigative Services Bureau, Coleman was served a warrant for his arrest for the 12 robberies while he was in the Wayne County Detention Center on Thursday where he was being held for unrelated felony charges. Coleman was also charged with one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The following businesses are where the robberies occurred:

* Oct. 26, KFC at 700 E. Ash St.

* Nov. 8, Tobacco World at 523 E. Ash St.

* Nov. 10, Family Dollar at 423 S. George St.

* Nov. 10, Hasty Mart at 113 Millers Chapel Road.

* Nov. 20, Dukes Beauty Supply at 513 E. Ash St. Two individuals were also robbed of their personal money during this incident.

* Nov. 19, Wilco Hess at 400 E. Ash St.

* Nov. 26, Dollar General at 301 N. George St.

* Nov. 27, Asiya Market 501 at E. Ash St.

* Nov. 27, Family Dollar at 423 S. George St.

* Nov. 28, Tobacco World at 523 E. Ash St.

* Nov. 28, Dollar General at 1015 N. Spence Ave.
