There will be four new members of the Goldsboro City Council sworn in during the council's next meeting Monday night, Dec. 7.

Bevan Foster, David Ham, Mark Stevens and Antonio Williams will step into the City Council seats for Districts 4, 5, 3 and 1, respectively.

Michael Headen, William Goodman and Charles Williams were not re-elected by their constituents in the Nov. 3 general election.

Chuck Allen will be sworn into the position of mayor, as current Mayor Al King did not seek re-election.

Allen was the District 5 City Council member, a seat in which Ham will now serve.

Antonio Williams will take the place of incumbent Michael Headen for the District 1 City Council seat.

Headen served on the council for eight years.

District 2 council member Bill Broadaway ran with opposition from Troy Mitchell, but ultimately won re-election. This will be Broadaway's second term on the council.

Stevens beat out incumbent Goodman and candidate Van Arthur Anderson for the District 3 seat. Goodman ran a write-in campaign for the general election, stating that he was having knee replacement surgery during the candidate filing period in July.

Bevan Foster ousted incumbent Charles Williams, who served on the City Council representing District 4 for 20 years.

District 6 incumbent Gene Aycock will retain his seat on the council after challenger Linda Harper failed to pull off an upset and unseat him. This will be Aycock's second term on the council.

Also on the council's agenda are resolutions honoring Headen, Goodman and Williams for their services to the city during their tenure on the council.

Charles Williams will be honored for 20 years of service, Goodman will be honored for 19 years of service, Headen will be honored for eight years of service and former mayor Al King will be honored for 14 years of service as mayor.

In other business, the council is expected to approve ABC permits for Bad Dog Coffee Works at 102 E. Walnut St., which will enable the business to begin serving craft beer.

Another round of ABC permits is expected to be approved for John Hodge, who is opening a craft beer store at the corner of Chestnut Street and Center Street.
