A special postal cachet in honor of local Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Col. Joe Marm will be unveiled on Veterans Day, officials said.

This past May, the U.S. Postal Service honored 48 living Vietnam War recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, with a special folio stamp sheet. Marm, from Pikeville, was among them.

He received the prestigious honor in 1966 for distinguished service at the Battle of Ia Drang Valley.

Wayne County Public Library, the Wayne County Historical Association and the Fremont Historical Museum partnered to create a special postal cover cachet honoring Col. Marm, which includes the first day of issue cancellation.

The cachet will be formally unveiled Wednesday at 1 p.m. during a program sponsored by the Daughters of the American Revolution at the Wayne County Veterans Memorial. The memorial is located at the corner of William and Walnut streets.

Only 500 cachets were made. They are on sale for $5 at the Wayne County Museum and at the Fremont Historical Museum.

Proceeds from the sale will be used to raise funds for the sponsoring institutions.
