MOUNT OLIVE -- The University of Mount Olive department of music will hold a Prism Concert on Thursday, Oct. 8, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hazel Waters Kornegay Assembly Hall, 207 Wooten St.

A Prism concert is an interactive concert in which all of the UMO music groups participate -- including the concert band, concert choir, Free Spirit, chamber choir and various soloists.

The music is continuous with the performers arranged in different positions around the Assembly Hall.

"It will be an entertaining evening you won't want to miss," said Dr. Bill Ford, chair of the department of music.

The concert and chamber choirs will be doing a medley of Stephen Schwartz songs, including selections from "Godspell," "Wicked," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Pocahontas."

Dr. Franklin Gross will present an original arrangement featuring student singers.

Free Spirit will close the program with two a cappella pieces, "All That Thrills My Soul" and "Ain-A That Good News."

Admission to the concert is free.
