For the second time in two months, a Goldsboro man has been transferred to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville after being shot.

Robert Lee Cole, 22 -- who survived being shot multiple times Aug. 8, while riding in the passenger seat of the car that ended up on the railroad tracks at Herman Street and Royall Avenue -- was shot multiple times in the lower extremities at 2:58 a.m. this morning, according to a Goldsboro police report.

The driver of the vehicle he was riding in early last month, Tyron Kasheem Jones, 25, was killed in that incident -- a murder that remains unsolved.

According to a report obtained today, police were called to Wayne Memorial Hospital this morning to investigate a shooting. The victim had been brought in by a personal vehicle.

Investigators arrived at the hospital and spoke to Trayviar King, who said he had been walking in the street near North Carolina Street and East Ash Street when he heard several gunshots. A few minutes later, he saw Cole stumbling up the street and having trouble walking, the report said.

King put Cole in his car and drove him to the hospital, however, King did not see who did the shooting.

Maj. Anthony Carmon said Cole's injuries did not appear to be life-threatening and so far no suspects have been identified.

"We're still out on it," he said.

Anyone with information regarding the Cole shooting -- or any open case in Goldsboro or Wayne County -- is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text tips to 919-222-4230. Callers can remain anonymous and tips leading to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward.
