FAYETTEVILLE -- An Air Force sergeant is being held in the Cumberland County jail under $100,000 bond after being charged with a sex offense involving a minor.
Tech. Sgt. Michael Joe Wills was arrested in a sting operation after he tried to pay for sex with who he thought was a 15-year-old girl but was actually an undercover officer, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office.
Wills allegedly texted the officer, saying he was willing to pay $150 for an hour of sexual favors.
He was charged with solicitation of a child by computer for sex and patronizing a minor prostitute.
Wills, of 104 Tanager Court in Goldsboro, had made plans to meet the girl in a Fayetteville motel.
He was taken into custody when he arrived at the motel on Thursday.
