The Goldsboro Police Department responded to two shootings early this morning that happened within 10 minutes and within a mile and a half of each other.
One person was injured and refused medical transport, according to a police report.
The first shooting took place at 309 W. Holly St. at 1:25 a.m. Brittany Denise Kasey, 23, and another woman were standing on the front porch when they suddenly heard gunfire.
The residents, including the father, came outside and saw Ms. Kasey bleeding from the forehead, the report said. Several bulletholes were located in the support beams of the front porch.
The Kaseys called 911 and police, fire and rescue responded. Ms. Kasey was evaluated at the scene, but refused transportation to Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Meanwhile, 10 minutes later, shots rang out in the 400 block of Charles Street.
Kimona Lashaun Kornegay, 35, told police an unknown subject fired several shots at her home, striking her front door, walls and windows. Bullets entered the home and passed through curtains and blinds, a chair and a television stand. No injuries were reported, but the property damage estimated on the report amounts to more than $600.
