A Wayne County man is in custody today following a robbery Sunday during which at least one shot was fired.
Dekota David Hammond, 17, 6003 Meadow Lane, is charged with one count each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle.
"He was arrested at his home at 6003 Meadow Lane," Maj. Tom Effler said. "He fired a shot inside the vehicle so I'm sure there was some damage, although that didn't show on the report. But no one was injured."
According to a press release issued by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Monday, a female reported going to pick up Hammond outside a residence on Sami Drive Sunday at 4:43 p.m.
Hammond got into the back seat of the car, pulled out a firearm and demanded money, the report said.
He then fired a shot inside the car, but no one was injured.
Hammond took the girl's property and fled the area, but was later identified and captured by deputies.
He has been placed in the Wayne County Detention Center and is being held under a $150,000 secured bond.
