A man beaten in an alleged robbery told police two black men jumped him as he walked home from Herman Park Sunday.
Donald Bailey, 47, of West Lockhaven Drive, said he was walking in the 400 block of Herman Street at 6:20 p.m. when the two men approached him, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The men first asked for cigarettes and then asked for money. When Bailey told them he had neither, one of the suspects hit him in the face with a stick, the report said.
Both suspects then began punching Bailey. Police and EMS were called to the scene and Bailey was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital to be treated. He told police the suspects did not get any of his property.
According to the report, the two suspects were both young black men with goatees. One suspect wore a black T-shirt and had short braids. He stood approximately 6 feet tall and weight about 170 pounds. The other suspect wore a red T-shirt and black shorts.
