A man and a woman face larceny charges after they were caught shoplifting at a string of retail stores along North Berkeley Boulevard Friday.
According to a Goldsboro police report, Ryan Paul Frary, 27, and Kimberly Heather Frary, 31, of 508 W. New Hope Road, Lot 4, each face three counts of felony larceny. Both were placed in the Wayne County Detention Center. Frary's bond is set at $7,5000 secured and Ms. Frary's bond set at $10,000 secured.
Maj. Anthony Carmon of the Goldsboro Police Department said he could not confirm whether the couple are married, divorced or otherwise related.
The couple allegedly entered each store -- Ross, Big Lots and Bed, Bath and Beyond -- with empty Big Lots bags, filled them with merchandise and left without paying.
"Shop-lifters often use bags from other stores," Carmon said.
The thefts took place at Big Lots, 1101 N. Berkeley Blvd., at 1:20 p.m.; at Bed, Bath and Beyond, 1203 N. Berkeley Blvd., at 1:50 p.m.; and at Ross Department Store, 1301 N. Berkeley Blvd., at 2:25 p.m.
Items stolen included art supplies, tools, cleaning supplies, dinnerware, flatware and a shower head. The value of the stolen merchandise from the three stores combined is estimated at less than $250.
According to the report, a citizen saw the Frarys throwing what looked like new merchandise into a trash can. The witness called police who located the suspects a block away on Hill Drive Circle where they were "trying not to be noticed by police," the report said.
"Most likely, they were dumping the merchandise into the dumpster so they could come back and retrieve it later," Carmon said.
Both Frarys are due to appear in Wayne County District Court Sept. 16.
