A convenience store clerk was beaten after a dispute with a customer over the amount of change given during a purchase made Sunday, according to a Goldsboro police report.
The assault took place ant the D&H Mart at 500 N. George St. at 7:45 p.m.
Abdulyakeeb Esseidi, 21, of Goldsboro, told police he argued with a customer after the man made his purchase, left and came back, according to the report.
The customer, described as a black man in his 50s, said Esseidi gave him change for a $10 bill when the man had paid with a $20 bill. The "irate" customer threw newspapers at Esseidi and walked out, the report said.
Esseidi followed the man outside.
According to the report, the man then assaulted Esseidi with his hands and got into a Chevrolet Trailblazer and left.
Goldsboro police and Wayne County EMS were called, but Esseidi refused medical treatment.
