Employees at the Mooring Automotive Group, L.L.C., returned to work Monday after being off all weekend to find the business had been broken into.
Unknown suspects pried open a rear door to gain entry to the business located at 4126 U.S. Highway 70 E., according to a Goldsboro police report.
The only item listed as stolen is a floor safe from under the accountant's desk, the report said. The safe is valued at $400. Its contents, however, are not being released publicly.
"That (remains) undisclosed at this time," Maj. Anthony Carmon said.
The break-in took place over the weekend and was reported at 9 a.m. Monday.
So far no suspects have been identified. Carmon said the investigation is ongoing.
According to the report, the suspects entered through the pried rear door and forced their way out by breaking a glass door. An interior wall is also listed as damaged on the report. The total value of the damage and the missing safe are reported at a combined $1,350.
