Lawmakers set to unwrap issues with constituents

State lawmakers have been in session for more than 100 days tackling issues from the routine to the complex including the state budget.
Some issues of local interest have yet to be disposed of including a countywide one-percent hotel occupancy tax and giving the school board more control over the local school calendar.
This Friday, people will have the opportunity to learn more about these and other issues and to talk with legislators during an end-of-session legislative update breakfast.
The breakfast, sponsored by the Goldsboro News-Argus in conjunction with the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at Lane Tree Conference Center, 2317 Salem Church Road.
The county's legislative delegation has been invited: District 5 Sen. Don Davis of Snow Hill, District 7 Sen. Louis Pate of Mount Olive, District 4 Rep. Jimmy Dixon of Mount Olive, District 10 Rep. John Bell of Goldsboro and District 21 Rep. Larry Bell of Clinton.
Dixon, a Republican, represents parts of Wayne and Duplin counties.
John Bell, a Republican, represents parts of Wayne, Greene, Lenoir and Craven counties. He serves as majority whip
Democrat Larry Bell represents parts of Wayne, Duplin and Sampson counties.
Davis, a Democrat, represents part of Wayne, all of Greene County and part of Lenoir and Pitt counties.
Pate, a Republican, represents most of Wayne and parts of Lenoir and Pitt counties. He also serves a deputy president pro-tempore.
The cost for the event is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.
