A Goldsboro woman is free on bond after being charged with larceny and possession of stolen goods Tuesday.
Investigators say the woman allegedly stole jewelry and pain medication from an 83-year-old woman, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office press release.
Athena Summerlin Letchworth, 59, of 106 Bryanwood Drive, is charged with felony larceny and felony possession of stolen goods and was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
According to the release, Ms. Letchworth and the victim are acquaintances. Ms. Letchworth is accused of visiting the victim and, while in the residence, entering the woman's bedroom and removing four rings and 16 tablets of medication from atop the dresser.
After the items were reported stolen, an investigation led detectives to an area pawn shop where three of the four rings were recovered and where Ms. Letchworth was identified.
Ms. Letchworth is due to appear in Wayne County District Court later today.
