Candidates get names in for fall ballot

Goldsboro voters will go to the polls during an Oct. 6 primary to select the top two candidates to run for mayor and for the District 4 City Council seat in the Nov. 3 general election.
The primary was created when three candidates filed for both of those offices.
The final day of filing for municipal and sanitary districts opened this morning with no candidates yet for either the District 3 (Chuck Allen) or District 5 (William Goodman) seats on the Goldsboro City Council.
Filing ended at noon today.
Henry G. Jinnette of 512 N. Jackson St., and Mayor Pro-Tem Chuck Allen (District 3) of 810 Park Ave. filed Thursday creating the three-way race for the mayor's office with D.A. Stuart of 408 S. William St. who filed July 6.
District 4 Council member Charles J. Williams is being challenged by Tondalayo Clark and Bevan J. Foster.
Antonio M. Williams of 143 N. Center filed Thursday challenging District 1 Council member Michael Headen.
Two candidates filed Thursday in Fremont.
Keith L. Spivey of 509 Memorial Church Road, Fremont, filed for mayor. Mayor W. Darron Flowers filed on July 9.
Joyce Monica Artis of Fremont filed for the District 4 seat now held by Harold Cuddington, who is seeking re-election.
In Seven Springs, Commissioner Karla Griffin filed on Thursday.
Jane Lee Williford of 142 Aycock Drive, Goldsboro, filed for a seat on the Fork Township Sanitary District board.
