MOUNT OLIVE -- A $5,000 reward is being offered for information concerning an early Sunday morning armed robbery at the Friendly Mart, 1677 Tram Road, about 12 miles southeast of Mount Olive in Duplin County.
Two female clerks were in the store when two armed men dressed completely in black entered around 6 a.m.
One brandished a handgun and the other a knife at the clerks, who were not injured.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
The men's faces were covered, but both are believed to be black.
Duplin County Sheriff Blake Wallace said there was some conversation between the men and clerks, but that he could not comment on what had been said.
The suspects were caught on the store's video surveillance, but there was no surveillance outside the store to show which direction the men fled in or if they left on foot or by car.
Wallace said physical evidence has been recovered in another county that leads investigators to believe that men might have ties to Duplin County, but could live in another county.
"We are trying to get the physical evidence analyzed as quickly as possible," Wallace said.
Wallace said he could not comment on the nature of the evidence.
The $5,000 reward includes $4,000 from the Sheriff's Office and $1,000 from the Friendly Mart.
Anyone who has any information about the robbery is asked to call the Duplin County Sheriff's Office at 910-296-2150.
