Amtrak officials this morning said that trains would continue to operate through North Carolina today, but that northbound traffic would terminate at Philadelphia.

An Amtrak train headed to New York City derailed and crashed Tuesday night in Philadelphia.

The southbound Carolinian will run between Philadelphia and Charlotte, while the Silver Star will operate between Washington, D.C., and Miami. The train's run between New York City and Washington, D.C., is canceled for today.

The Palmetto will run from Savannah to Philadelphia where the route will terminate today.

According to the Amtrak website, Amtrak service will be provided between Washington and Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Philadelphia, and New York and Boston. There will be no Amtrak service between New York and Philadelphia, but New Jersey Transit will honor Amtrak tickets between New York City and Trenton.

Other Amtrak service between New York and Albany-Rensselaer; New Haven, Conn., and Springfield, Mass., and other points will operate.
