A traffic stop conducted by a deputy with the Wayne County Sheriff's Office Wednesday led to the arrest of a man wanted for armed robbery.
Brandon Lamar Jacobs, 25, 1575 Old Grantham Road, is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was placed in the Wayne County Detention Center under a $130,000 secured bond.
Maj. Tom Effler said Jacobs is accused of forcing his way into a home on Melody Lane May 3 and robbing two juveniles at gunpoint.
"A 911 call came into the dispatch center saying two juveniles were inside the home on Melody Lane when they heard a knock on the door. A few seconds later the door opened," he said.
The juveniles said a man the recognized as "B.J." came in to the home and called them to the front of the house.
"They observed him holding a brown and black handgun so they complied," Effler said.
Jacobs stole a video game system, watches and a handgun and left the house, he said.
On Wednesday Deputy Michael Biggins stopped Jacobs' car for a traffic violation and arrested him on an unrelated charge, according to a press release. During the course of that investigation it was determined that Jacobs was responsible for the armed robbery on Melody Lane.
The firearm reported stolen during that robbery has been recovered.
