Students receive Duke University awards

Two students from Wayne County have been awarded the prestigious Benjamin N. Duke Memorial Scholarship at Duke University.
The award covers full tuition, room, board and mandatory fees for eight semesters.
Students from the Carolinas who have demonstrated high academic achievement, a commitment to community service and potential for leadership are eligible for this scholarship. The full value of each scholarship is estimated to be more than $250,000 over four years.
The B.N. Duke Scholarship also includes service and leadership development activities and two summer programs, one in the Carolinas and one abroad.
The scholarships were established by The Duke Endowment to honor Benjamin Newton Duke, one of the university's founders.
The Class of 2019 recipients include:
* Cullen Blair Tyndall of Goldsboro, a graduating senior at Eastern Wayne High School and the son of Lynne and Blair Tyndall.
* Erick Daniel Aguilar Ramos of Mount Olive, a graduating senior at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham and the son of Lilian Argentina Ramos and Evelio Erasmo Aguilar.
