Optimist computer camp scheduled

The Optimist Computers4Students Summer Camp will provide students with the skills necessary to refurbish and build their own functional computer systems from parts obtained from used computers.
Students will also learn how to install the Edubuntu operating system.
The Optimist Computers4Students Summer Camp will be held in 3 sessions at the Optimist Club of Goldsboro's office, which is located in the Edgerton Building at 205 E. Walnut St.:
* Session 1: July 7, 8, and 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Session 2: July 14, 15, and 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Session 3: July 21, 22, and 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Each session will have a maximum enrollment of six students, and enrollment is on a first-to-apply, first-to-be-accepted basis.
A $100 enrollment fee is required when submitting an application.
At least two adults, an instructor and an assistant, from the Optimist Club will be present at all times during each session of the camp.
Students are required to provide their own lunch, and lunch time is from noon to 1 p.m. each session day. Parents also have the option to drop off a lunch bag for their students during lunch time.
Snacks and refreshments will be provided by the Optimist Club.
Students who complete the Optimist Computers4Students Summer Camp will receive a certificate of completion and will be able to take their refurbished computer system home with them.
