Five to seek title of Miss Rosewood

Five contestants will vie for the crown of Miss Rosewood 2015 tonight at in the Wayne Community College auditorium.

A tradition since 1969, the pageant is sponsored by RHS DECA: Emerging Leaders in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.

Tickets are $10 at the door.

Contestants will participate in five phases of competition which include interview, casual wear, talent, evening wear and on-stage question.  The contestant who earns the highest score from the judges will be crowned Miss Rosewood 2015, receiving a $1,000 scholarship.  The first place runner-up will earn a $500 scholarship.  An additional monetary scholarship will be given for the Audience Choice award.  Gifts will be given for highest amount of sponsor ads and Miss Congeniality.

This year's theme is "Treasure," which reflects the exciting atmosphere of the pageant.

Sara Lewis, Miss Rosewood 2014, will crown the new Miss Rosewood at the end of the show.

Contestant No. 1, Kiara Onelas, is the daughter of Rebecca Hernandez and Raul Ornelas. A sophomore, she will sing the worship song, "Lead Me to the Cross."  

Contestant No. 2, Megan Peele, is the daughter of Scott and Tina Peele. She is a junior at RHS. Megan will perform an upbeat jazz routine to "Go Gone."

Contestant No. 3, Nakia Brown, is the daughter of Colinthia Bynum and Lawrence Brown.  A senior, Nakia will sing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye.

Contestant No. 4, Alexis Leechford, is the daughter of Lisa Cramer and Mike Leechford. The RHS senior will perform a contemporary dance to "Gravity."

Contestant No. 5, junior Shayla Marak, is the daughter of Janeil and Paul Marak. She will sing "Ave Maria" by Beyonce.
