For the second time in two weeks, the Goldsboro Police Department is investigating an early morning break-in at the Wayne County Library at 1001 E. Ash St.
This time, however, nothing was taken.
Executive Director Donna Phillips said the would-be thieves broke in through the same window as last time.
The first break-in took place at about 3 a.m. on March 12. The suspects made off with a cash register worth more than the amount of money it contained.
According to the police report, the unknown suspects struck again at 2:25 a.m. Tuesday. Police responded and found a window broken out but no one inside the building.
Mrs. Phillips said the library does have surveillance cameras and is working with police on that investigation.
"All the shrubbery has been taken up from in front of the window," she said.
An investigator has been assigned to the case, Capt. Dwayne Dean said.
He said trimmed hedges and adequate lighting are essential to security of homes and businesses.
"Make sure all doors are locked at close of business and the alarm system has been activated," he said.
