A man the Wayne County Sheriff's Office first charged in February with multiple counts of breaking and entering is again in custody today, according to a series of press releases.
The help of a Wayne County citizen was "instrumental" in the capture, the release said.
Allen Earl Alphin, 29, 504 B W. New Hope Road, is charged with two counts each of breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering and possession of stolen goods. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under two $15,000 secured bonds.
"He has got about 15 charges (total), and his wife, she's got 10," Maj. Tom Effler said.
Alphin and his wife, Samantha Alphin, 31, were first charged by Wayne County while in jail in Greene County on separate charges.
According to one of the press releases, a vehicle had been spotted in the area of a residential break-in in the north end back in January. Property amounting to $1,070 was taken from the home.
A car of a similar description had been seen in the area of other break-ins at the times the crimes had been committed. All the Wayne County Sheriff's Office had to go on, however, was a description of the vehicle.
Recently, a citizen reported a suspicious vehicle in his neighborhood matching the description of the vehicle seen near the break-ins. This time though, the citizen got the license information.
Sgt. Darren Craig and Sgt. Brandy Jones were able to locate Alphin by the information the citizen provided, and he was subsequently charged.
Effler said the citizen coming forward made solving the case a lot easier.
"We encourage it. A lot of times it is all we need to solve a case," he said.
Effler said he understands people are reluctant these days to come forward, and he understands why.
"But we need it. If they want results, we need it. We don't see everything. We need the help," he said.
