DUDLEY -- No injuries were reported in an early morning accident between a Wayne County Public Schools bus and a vehicle, resulting in both vehicles being towed from the scene and a student being charged.
Trooper C.S. Grainger of the Highway Patrol investigated the collision, which happened around 7:30 a.m. at Herring Road and Edinborough Lane.
Approximately 17 Southern Wayne High School students were on the bus at the time, as well as the bus driver, he said. The driver of the car, a Ford Escort, was Ashley Marie Raynor, 16, who was charged with failure to yield left turn.
"She was making a left turn from Edinborough out onto Herring Road and failed to yield to the bus and the bus hit her and knocked the car into the ditch," Grainger said.
There were no injuries and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene, the trooper said.
Estimated damage to the car was $4,500, with about $1,000 worth of damage received by the bus.
