The Wayne County Historical Association is again accepting applications for persons to be considered for the Wall of Fame.
Applications must be received before April 1 for consideration.
A committee of long-time residents across the county, who are not members of the Wayne County Historical Association will make the final determinations.
The Wall of Fame was begun by the historical association in 2002, and well over 150 original applications were received. An impartial committee studied the entries and made selections. On January 26, 2003, a celebration was held at the museum and photographs of the original winners were hung.
Many of the living "famous" citizens were present. Family members of almost all those selected were present.
Since that time, additional peoples have been added to the wall every two or three years. If you have previously made an application which was not selected, be sure to submit again.
Some of those previously selected for the Wall of Fame include Seymour Johnson, Andy Griffith, Lee Brown, Adam Scott, Johnny Walker, John Allen Farfour, Clarence Dillard, Clifton Britton and Johnny Grant. At the present time, roughly 80 photographs and biographies are displayed at the museum.
To submit someone for consideration, fill out an application which includes the person's name, photograph, date of birth (and death, if applicable), education, primary accomplishments, any articles or letters of substantiation, your name and contact information.
For a written form or more information, contact the Wayne County Museum at 919-734-5023.
For consideration, entries must be mailed to the Wayne County Museum, 116 N. William St., Goldsboro, NC 27530 before April 1.
