The smell of marijuana alerted officers to the presence of drugs during a traffic stop conducted by the Wayne County Drug Task Force Wednesday, a sheriff's office press release said.
Simon Rudy Hill, 68, 105 Newsome Road, is charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle for the sale or use of a controlled substance. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail under a $5,000 bond.
According to the press release, the drug squad officers stopped Hill for a traffic violation and could smell marijuana inside the vehicle. The officers searched Hill and his vehicle and discovered two ounces of marijuana.
Hill was then taken into custody and charged. He is due to appear in Wayne County District Court March 2.
