The Goldsboro City Council unanimously passed its consent agenda Monday night, meaning a few budget amendments were passed and an update to Chapter 91 the city's code of ordinances was passed.
Chapter 91 of the city's code of ordinances deals with how many hens are allowed on an individual's property within the city limits.
After last night's consent agenda passed, property owners may have up to 10 hens.
Hens must be in an enclosed space of at least 10 square feet, and placed 15 feet inside of all property lines.
Also authorized was the replacement of a 1994 utility truck used for collections and distributions by the Public Works Department.
The existing utility truck that is being replaced has more than 187,000 miles and needed a new engine, which would have cost between $2,000 and $3,000.
The truck incurred more than $6,000 in maintenance costs over the years. Sufficient funds are already available in various line items of the Public Works budget, the Public Works Department will purchase a new Ford F-350 diesel truck that will cost just under $40,000.
Residents of Balsam Place will share the cost equally amongst themselves of sanitary sewer improvement costs along their road. At the cost of $17 per frontage foot, Balsam Place residents will divide equally the cost of improvements, which total more than $19,000, regardless of property size.
This means each property owner of Balsam Place will pay $1,739.29 for the repairs and improvements.
Finally, the city's finance department authorized the hiring of Carr, Riggs, and Ingram for the completion of the 2014-15 fiscal year audit of the city, as well as the allocation of $15,000 in funding for the city to have its own private chalet at the 2015 Wings Over Wayne air show.
The city has used the auditing firm for previous audits, and is recommending the same firm be used for its next audit.
The audit will cost $45,000.
