Scientist set to speak at UMO's Martin lecture

Dr. Santanu Bose will be the guest speaker for the 22nd annual Lorelle F. Martin Lecture Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in the Southern Bank Auditorium in the Raper Building on the University of Mount Olive campus.
Bose is an associate professor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State University.
After earning his bachelor's degree from UMO, he received his doctorate. in biochemistry from the Medical College of Wisconsin.
He is the co-inventor of an oncolytic therapy using respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) to selectively target cancer cells.
The Lorelle F. Martin Lecture was established in 1993 by Dr. E. Lee Glover as an annual tribute to his former professor, Lorelle F. Martin. Mrs. Martin served for 30 years as chairwoman of the Department of Science and Mathematics at the University of Mount Olive before retiring in 1987.
This event is being presented by the UMO Department of Biological and Physical Sciences.
