A Goldsboro man investigating a noise outside his home at 8:15 p.m. Sunday ended up being robbed for all the money in his pocket, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Harold Edward Massengill, 49, of Edgerton Street, had seen the person who robbed him moments earlier at the Lighthouse Food Mart on North Herman Street.
Massengill said the black male, about 17 years old, asked him for a cigarette outside the store. Once he got home and heard the noise, he found himself outside again with the same teenager.
The teen again asked him for a cigarette and then asked for money, the report said.
Massengill gave the teen both and that is when the robbery happened.
According to the report, the teen demanded all of Massengill's money. As Massengill reached for his phone to call 911, the teen made a move for his own belt line as if he had a gun tucked in the small of his back.
"You don't want to do that," the teen said according to the report. "I will kill you right here."
Massengill gave the teen his money. The teen then fled in an unknown direction, the report said.
Massengill described the teen as 5 feet 11 inches tall wearing a blue jacket, white shirt and camouflaged hat. He got away with more than $65 in cash.
