The Goldsboro Police Department is investigating a shooting on Bryant Street Sunday that damaged a nearby church.
Members of The Potter's House, 728 Bryant St., were inside the church counting money at 12:40 p.m. Sunday when bullets came flying into the structure.
Vernon Jay Long, 32, and Annie Mae Hargrove, 81, were in a back room with several other church members when they heard loud noises and glass breaking. As they came out into the sanctuary, they could see a window had been shattered and smoke could still be seen rising from the walls where the bullets had impacted, according to the police report.
No one was injured inside or outside of the church.
Investigators processed the scene but so far no suspects have been identified. The estimated damage to the church is listed on the report at $300.
