Goldsboro police and security personnel are working to identify a man who has twice entered the TJ Maxx retail store at 1303 N. Berkeley Blvd. and exposed himself to women.
His most recent antics escalated to the level of assault, investigators said Friday.
"All we have right now is that it is a guy going into the store and exposing himself to women. And with this most recent one, he grabbed (a victim) from behind," Sgt. Jeremy Sutton said.
The first incident took place Dec. 21, at 4:30 p.m., according to a police report. The victim, a 23-year-old woman, stated the man exposed his penis to her.
She described the suspect as a black male between the age of 25 and 35 years old and of a medium build, wearing baggy pants. A press release issued Wednesday stated the man is between 5 foot 3 inches and 5 foot 11 inches with short hair or is possibly bald.
The morning of Dec. 24, the suspect again entered the store and exposed himself to a woman. It was during this second incident that the subject graduated to assault, Sutton said.
Still photos from the store's security cameras could become available later today.
"We're working with loss prevention to get the photos," he added.
Anyone who finds themselves experiencing this type of incident is asked to report it right away by calling 911, the press release said.
And anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the alleged flasher is asked to contact the Goldsboro Police Department at 919-580-4243 and speak to Investigator Dwayne Bevell. People wishing to remain anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 919-735-2255 or text tips to 919-222-4230. Crime Stopper tips leading to a felony arrest are eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.
