The Wayne County Chamber of Commerce is again accepting grant applications from area teachers to support creative and innovative projects in classrooms.
The mini-grants of up to $500 are awarded on a competitive basis and designed to improve the quality of learning by supporting worthwhile projects that show promise of benefiting students.
The annual awards are given to Wayne County teachers, media coordinators and guidance counselors. All applications are reviewed by a panel of Wayne Education Network volunteers.
In previous years, successful applicants have used funds for materials, equipment and other items necessary to carry out a proposed project.
Since the grant award program was begun, the Chamber has distributed over $119,000 in grants to local educators.
The grants are available to all public and private schools, as well as homeschool settings serving grades K-12.
Funding is made possible through the contributions of Wayne County businesses and other school patrons at the annual Dancing Stars of Wayne County fundraiser, the most recent one held in October.
Completed applications are due by Jan. 29, 2015.
Applications are available at the Chamber office of website, www.waynecountychamber.com.
